God truly cares how you treat your body, and He's given you a free health plan to go by — the Bible! This study explores amazing facts about how you can have abundant health and longer life.

1

Are Health Principles Really a Part of True Bible Religion?

Key Scriptures

  • 3 John 1:2
  • John 10:10

Bible Truth

Yes. The Bible rates health right near the top of the list in importance. A person's mind, spiritual nature, and body are all interrelated and interdependent.

Key Insight

What affects the body affects the mind and spirit. If the body is misused, the mind and spiritual nature cannot become what God planned.

Discussion Question

How does physical health connect to your spiritual life?

2

Why Did God Give Health Principles to His People?

Key Scriptures

  • Deuteronomy 6:24
  • Exodus 23:25
  • Psalm 67:2

Bible Truth

God gave health principles because He knows what is best for the human body. The Bible is God's operations manual for life.

Key Insight

Following God's principles results in saving health and more abundant life. With our cooperation, God can reduce and eliminate the effects of disease.

Discussion Question

Why would a loving God give rules about what we eat and drink?

3

Do God's Health Principles Have Anything to Do with Eating and Drinking?

Key Scriptures

  • Isaiah 55:2
  • 1 Corinthians 10:31
  • Psalm 84:11

Bible Truth

Yes. A Christian will even eat and drink differently — all to the glory of God — choosing only what is good.

Key Insight

If God withholds a thing from us, it is because it is not good for us. No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.

Discussion Question

How can our daily eating and drinking be an act of worship?

4

What Did God Give People to Eat When He Created Them?

Key Scriptures

  • Genesis 1:29
  • Genesis 2:16
  • Genesis 3:18

Bible Truth

The diet God gave people in the beginning was fruit, grains, and nuts. Vegetables were added a little later.

Key Insight

God's original diet was plant-based — perfectly designed for the human body in its ideal state.

Discussion Question

What can we learn from God's original diet for mankind?

5

What Items Are Specifically Mentioned as Unclean and Forbidden?

Key Scriptures

  • Leviticus 11
  • Deuteronomy 14:6,9

Bible Truth

God points out specific food groups as unclean: animals that don't chew cud or have split hooves, water creatures without fins and scales, birds of prey, and most creeping things.

Key Insight

Most animals people ordinarily eat are clean, but notable exceptions include pork, shellfish, and scavengers.

Discussion Question

Why might God have designated certain animals as unclean for human consumption?

6

Is the Law of Clean and Unclean Animals Still Relevant Today?

  • Isaiah 66:15–17
  • Acts 10:9–28

Bible Truth

The distinction between clean and unclean animals existed before Moses, was not abolished at the cross, and will still be in effect at Christ's second coming.
